“Hello! Nara Brewing” at PEPOWN

PEPOWN, a brewery in Chigasaki, Kanagawa, will host “Hello! Nara Brewing” from Saturday, September 19 through Monday, September 21. The event will spotlight Nara Brewing, based in Nara City, Nara Prefecture.

PEPOWN’s recurring series fills its taps with beers from one brewery each month, giving guests an opportunity to explore that brewery in depth. Now in its seventh edition, the series will feature Nara Brewing. The event is expected to offer a selection of Nara Brewing beers across different beer styles, although the original announcement does not specify individual beer names, styles, or the number of taps.

Nara Brewing was founded by owner-brewer Namioka. After working for more than 13 years as a civil engineering technician at the Nara Prefectural Government, Namioka entered the brewing world, inspired in part by a strong interest in Hoegaarden. Namioka later began a brewing career as an assistant at Kyoto Brewing.

The brewery’s range reflects both regional character and creative experimentation. Its beers span traditional and classic styles, cocktail-inspired creations, and beers made with wine or sake yeast. The brewery describes its approach through a focus on beers people want to order again, ingredients’ distinctive qualities, and a sense of necessity behind each beer.

PEPOWN plans to provide a booklet featuring an interview with Namioka, allowing guests to learn about Nara Brewing while tasting its beers. Designer Genki is also scheduled to visit on September 21.

For beer drinkers in the Chigasaki area, this will be a chance to explore Nara Brewing’s diverse approach through PEPOWN’s taps and atmosphere.
