Kagiya Brewery CAGHIYA TAP ROOM in Nakahara Ward, Kawasaki City, Kanagawa, has newly unveiled DDH IPA “GOLDENEYE (Goldeneye).”

According to the official announcement, this beer is characterized by a design that gently subverts the idea that “IPA means heavy and rich.” While offering a tropical aroma, it is introduced as having an astonishingly dry mouthfeel and a finish that slips away cleanly. Alcohol content is 6.0%, IBU is 25, and SRM is 5.

The hop bill uses only Simcoe as the first wort hop to create a clean bitterness, then loads the whirlpool with Nectaron, Simcoe, and El Dorado. After fermentation, pineapple and hops are added, layering the aroma further. The brewery says the design not only brings out pineapple-like juiciness, but also aims for an aroma reminiscent of stone fruit.

The key point is that it does not lean too far toward either juiciness or sharpness. Fruitiness comes forward, yet the beer feels less heavy as you keep drinking, while the IPA-style bitterness tightens the overall balance. It is presented as a type that is easy to choose as either a first drink or a later round.

As a serving suggestion, it is recommended to enjoy it well chilled. The official guidance says it pairs well with BBQ, outdoor activities, and daytime drinking. The name comes from the James Bond film “GoldenEye,” and is said to combine the image of the gold-colored liquid with pineapple.

GOLDENEYE can be described as a new release suited for people looking for an IPA that delivers tropical aroma without becoming tiring to drink.
