Konishi Sake Brewery to Host Chojugura Beer Fest Marking Two Milestones on June 20
Konishi Sake Brewery will hold the Chojugura Beer Fest on June 20 to celebrate the 31st anniversary of Shirayuki Brewery Village Chojugura and the 160th anniversary of Japan-Belgium diplomatic relations. The event will feature 30 beers from Belgian brands, KONISHI BEER, and breweries across Kansai.
Event Overview
Konishi Sake Brewery will host the Chojugura Beer Fest on Saturday, June 20, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Shirayuki Brewery Village Chojugura in Itami, Hyogo. The lineup will bring together 30 beers in total, including Belgian beer, KONISHI BEER, and selections from breweries across the Kansai region.
A Brewery Rooted in Itami
Konishi Sake Brewery was founded in 1550 in Itami, a city widely known as a birthplace of sake. While the company is best known for its sake brand Shirayuki, it has also built a long track record in beer. Shirayuki Brewery Village Chojugura opened in 1995 as a complex with a museum, restaurant, and shop, and it has remained a familiar place for local visitors ever since.
A Celebration of Two Milestones
This year’s festival marks two milestones at once: the 31st anniversary of Chojugura and the 160th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Japan and Belgium. It also reflects Konishi’s long-running connection to Belgian beer, which began in 1988 when the company started importing Belgian beer into Japan.
The same day, the venue will also hold the 14th Tashinami Lecture series, with separate sessions on craft beer in the morning and Belgian beer in the afternoon, both requiring advance registration.
For beer fans, the event offers a chance to experience both the history of Itami’s brewing culture and Konishi’s long engagement with Belgian beer in one place.
