Two beers recognized

Baeren Brewery in Shizukuishi, Iwate, announced that both Baeren Classic and Baeren The Day TG Pilsner won Finest Beer honors at the international beer competition Finest Beer Selection 2026, held near Munich in Bavaria, southern Germany. It was the brewery's fifth award in the competition overall.

Finest Beer Selection is not a simple head-to-head competition by category. Judges evaluate each brewery's philosophy, background, and story alongside production quality and flavor. In 2026, 843 beers from 122 breweries were entered, and 285 beers scoring 90 points or more were named Finest Beer. Baeren's Classic scored 90 points, while TG Pilsner scored 92.

Classic earned the honor for the first time. As Baeren's flagship, it follows the tradition of Dortmund-style lager, a classic full-bodied beer with a balanced bitterness. TG Pilsner, meanwhile, uses generous amounts of premium Saaz hops from the Czech Republic and is known for its crisp bitterness and clean finish. TG Pilsner had already been recognized at the same competition in 2023, making this a second win.

For a brewery based in Iwate, the result shows that two of its core beers have once again been recognized on an international stage. It also underscores Baeren's long-running focus on classic European-style brewing and its message of bringing a good beer to the table.
