Baeren Brewery Releases Limited Fresh Hop 2026 Lager Made Entirely with Iwate Ingredients
Baeren Brewery has released “Baeren Tsunagu Beer Fresh Hop 2026,” a limited beer made with Iwate-grown malt and fresh hops from Shizukuishi. Brewed with the hops immediately after harvest, the 4.5% session lager highlights a vibrant, fruity aroma and a clean finish.
Baeren Brewery, based in Shizukuishi, Iwate Prefecture, has launched the third installment of its limited “Tsunagu Beer” series: “Baeren Tsunagu Beer Fresh Hop 2026.”
The beer is made entirely with ingredients from Iwate, including locally grown brewing barley and fresh hops harvested in Shizukuishi. The hop harvest was carried out together with members of “Shizukuishi Hop Challenge,” a group of young local farmers.
Its defining feature is the use of fresh hops without drying them before brewing. This process preserves the vivid, fruity aroma associated with freshly harvested hops, along with a light and refreshing finish that differs from beers made with conventionally dried hops.
The beer is brewed in the session lager style and has an alcohol content of 4.5%. Its approachable strength makes it suitable for pairing with food or enjoying as a seasonal beer on its own.
The suggested retail price is ¥449 including tax. It is available through the Kitayama brewery shop, Baeren’s online store, its directly operated restaurant, and selected supermarkets, liquor retailers, department stores, and antenna shops in Iwate. Availability and sales channels may vary by retailer.
A portion of sales will also be donated to the Red Feather Community Chest. By connecting local farmers, regional ingredients, brewing, and charitable activity, this limited beer offers a taste of the relationship between Baeren Brewery and the Iwate community.
