TEN FORWARD makes Tottori Pear Weizen a year-round brew and refreshes its label
TEN FORWARD, a craft beer brewery in Iwami Town, Tottori Prefecture, has announced that it will switch its flagship beer, "Tottori Pear Weizen," to year-round brewing and also completely refresh the label design. Because this brand has been praised as a food-pairing beer that makes use of Tottori-grown pears, its visual update is also drawing attention.
TEN FORWARD, a brewpub and guesthouse in Iwami Town, Iwami District, Tottori Prefecture, is refreshing the label design for "Tottori Pear Weizen." At the same time, by moving to year-round brewing, it is making the beer, which had previously been enjoyed as a seasonal product, more readily available.
TEN FORWARD is a brewery that established its base by self-renovating a vacant house with a Showa-retro feel along the coast of Iwami Town. Its official website says the company aims to create a place where people can enjoy the area's nature and food, and explains that it operates by combining craft beer with a guesthouse. It also changed its brand name from the former "Iwami Ao Beer" to "IWAMI BLUE BEER," refining its world-building down to the logo.
Tottori Pear Weizen is a weizen brewed by upcycling pears that do not meet grading standards, one of Tottori's signature fruits, and by also using yuzu peel. At the Tottori Prefecture specialty products contest, it was recognized for a recipe designed to pair well with crab dishes, a winter delicacy, and for the quality of its label design, winning both the overall grand prize and the top prize in the alcohol category. Its strength lies in how it uses prefectural ingredients while being built as a beer that complements meals.
This move to year-round brewing and the label refresh also seems like a statement of intent to develop the product into a staple rather than letting it end as a one-off topic. How do you distill the character of Iwami Town and Tottori ingredients into a single glass? That ongoing effort, along with the visual update, looks likely to lead to future developments as well.
