The Irish pub Tullamore in Tomigaya, Tokyo, marked its 21st anniversary on May 12. It was open from 4:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., and on the anniversary day it offered special thank-you pricing.
The draft beer lineup that day included the regular Guinness, Shiga Kogen Beer IPA, and Yebisu, plus Ikari Brewing's Irish Red -Nitro-. As a guest beer, the anniversary beer "Tullamore 21st Anniversary Beer More Bitter," brewed by Riot Beer in Soshigaya-Okura, also made an appearance.
"More Bitter" is an anniversary beer based on an English-style bitter, featuring a toasty roasted barley character and a faint fruity aroma from the yeast. It is designed with a dry, clean finish, making it enjoyable whether you sip it slowly or drink it at a brisk pace. This year, in addition to the carbonated version, a nitro version and a "More Bitter Hojicha Version" were also prepared.
On the food side, the signature fish and chips and chicken and chips were offered at anniversary prices, and a house-made roast pork and apple salad also debuted. The shop is a beer pub in the Yoyogi Park Station area, combining everyday ease of use with the calm atmosphere typical of an English-style pub. In keeping with an anniversary service, it was a day well suited to taking time to enjoy beer and food.
