Hansharo Beer 'M Shake ~ Matcha Flavor ~' Arrives at CRAFT KOFU
At the beer pub CRAFT KOFU in Kofu City, you can enjoy Hansharo Beer’s limited-release 'M Shake ~ Matcha Flavor ~'. This Matcha Milk Shake Ale makes lavish use of matcha produced in-house, and its creamy mouthfeel comes from lactose and oats.
The beer pub CRAFT KOFU is tucked away in an alley near Orion Street in Marunouchi, Kofu City. The newest addition to the lineup is Hansharo Beer’s 'M Shake ~ Matcha Flavor ~'. The style is Matcha Milk Shake Ale, ABV 7.0%. It uses an indulgent amount of matcha grown and produced in the tea fields owned by Kuraya Narusawa, the parent company of Hansharo Beer, and is finished with lactose and oats for a shake-like creamy texture. Brewed as a collaboration with the craft beer bar IBREW GINZA in Ginza, it stands out for its strong emphasis on Japanese ingredients.
A small amount of German Hüll Melon hops is used, keeping the bitterness restrained. When poured into a glass, its greenish-yellow appearance catches the eye, and the aroma opens with a rich green impression derived from the matcha. On the palate, the umami of the matcha and milky nuances overlap, creating a drinking experience much like an adult matcha milk shake. Because it can be enjoyed like a dessert, it also seems like an easy match for the end of a meal.
