At the brewpub And Beer in Koenji, Thursday, April 23, brings the new coffee ale "AND TAMIRU TADESSE." Made with beans roasted by Coffee Wrights, it is a day to enjoy lunch, happy hour, and even beer takeout.
At And Beer, the brewpub in Koenji, Tokyo, the new beer "AND TAMIRU TADESSE" is being served on Thursday, April 23. The style is Coffee Ale, and the ABV is 5.5%. It uses Ethiopia's "Tamir Tadesse Murago," roasted by Coffee Wrights in Kuramae, Tokyo, and is said to combine coffee notes reminiscent of grape and peach with the bright, yeast-derived character of an ale.
The shop is located in the elevated-track area north of Koenji, and one of its defining features is that you can get there with almost no exposure to rain even on wet days. Regular hours run from 11:30 to 22:00, lunch is served from 11:30 to 15:00 (last order 14:30), and happy hour runs from 15:00 to 18:00. Beer takeout is also available from 9:30 to 22:00, with bottles, PET bottles, plastic cups, and growlers all supported.
On the food side, as of the time of posting, the menu includes pairings with spice dishes and rice dishes such as sag duck keema paneer, a keema combo with miso keema, and shrimp, bamboo shoots, and butterbur sprout miso biryani. Also announced is the "Sakura hard pudding," which is ending its seasonal run this week, making for a lineup that naturally invites curiosity about how it pairs with the new coffee-forward release. It is fair to say that And Beer is appealing as a place where you can drop in for craft beer and take your time enjoying both a meal and dessert.
