A Thursday-Only Pour

Bakushu Yumemi (Higashiyama Ward, Kyoto City) will hold "Every Thursday is Maniac Beer Day" from 5:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 21. In a post, the bar says, "There will be no Yebisu beer served today," while noting that this week’s draft lineup will also be put together in a "maniac" way.

The draft beer poured from the LUKR tower that day will be a smoke pils brewed by YOROCCO and GOODSPEED. Made by two producers who favor Czech lager culture, it is a commemorative beer celebrating the 10th anniversary of Taiyo Sakaba, and rather than pushing the smoke character strongly to the fore, it is designed to highlight the drinkability of pils. Its natural carbonation finish is another detail lager fans will not want to miss.

For glass service, they will offer Noroshi Brewing's commemorative beer, "Kinkan Brett Saison." It layers Brett onto a saison, and the post emphasizes how well it pairs as a food drink. At 1,000 yen per glass, the pour is a little generous, making it easy for one person to finish.

The bar is promoting itself with "No large groups, solo drinkers welcome," and it does not take reservations. As a Thursday operation where you can stop by for a single drink in a corner of Gion without any fuss, it quietly lets you enjoy the character of both lagers and saisons.
