Tapping news

vivo! BEER+DININGBAR in Ikebukuro has tapped Oyamag Beer’s Kohaku Weizen. According to the shop, the beer uses a small amount of high-roasted malt, giving it a gently sweet, toasted aroma and flavor. It should offer the fuller malt character expected from a dunkelweizen-style beer.

A broad draft selection

The bar describes itself as a craft-beer specialist tucked away in the basement near Ikebukuro East Exit, with 20 draft beers on offer. On this day’s lineup were a wide range of styles, from pale ale and IPA to hazy IPA, pilsner, Belgian witbier, saison, sour, stout, and cider.

Examples include vivo!×CYCAD BREWING’s 42 (forty two), Oni Densetsu’s Kinki Pale Ale Strata Single ver., Inkhorn Brewing’s Kastrel #5, Yellow Warbler 2026, and Vacation Mysteries, Y.Market Brewing’s Mata Ashita Hazy IPA, TOKYO ALEWORKS’ Ikebukuro Night Owl, and North Coast’s Old Rasputin. It is a lineup built for comparison and tasting flights.

A good stop after work

The post notes that the shop keeps the interior cool, which makes it an easy stop even on a hot day. Opening from 4:00 p.m. on weekdays and from 3:00 p.m. on weekends and holidays, it is set up for an early evening pint. Starting with the amber-toned Kohaku Weizen and moving through the rotating taps is exactly the kind of visit beer fans will want.
