A limited creation where Kyoto and Izu resonate
Craft beer brewery Hansharo Beer, based in Izunokuni City, Shizuoka Prefecture, has announced the collaboration beer “Iza Kakan” with Kyoto’s Kyoto Brewing. Kyoto Brewing is a brewery that has led the industry for 10 years since starting brewing in Kyoto, and this project has given shape to the two breweries’ personalities and technical exchange.
Layering Izu character onto a Belgian Wit
“Iza Kakan” is a Belgian Wit made with the Belgian house yeast that is also a signature of Kyoto Brewing. Built on a soft mouthfeel and refreshing aroma, it uses Shizuoka-grown New Summer Orange as an adjunct ingredient, adding a bright citrus note characteristic of Izu. In addition, by combining coriander and in-house hojicha, it achieves both aromatic breadth and a calm finish.
Keep an eye on the sister release launching at the same time
In this collaboration, Kyoto Brewing will also release “Iza Shinshu” at the same time. This one is built on a saison base using rice flour flakes and multiple grains, with sake yeast and three types of flowers blended in: dandelion, jasmine, and chrysanthemum. This project, where Izu as home to Hansharo Beer and Kyoto Brewing’s journey intersect, offers the kind of enjoyment that only a limited beer can deliver.
