Two seasonal Minoh Beer releases at a Nakano used-bookstore beer spot
Chillaxin' Book Shop / チラクシンブックショップ in Arai, Nakano Ward, is a used bookstore about a 7-minute walk from Nakano Station, located along the approach to Araiyakushi. Inside, you can enjoy Minoh Beer and coffee, making reading and a drink feel naturally connected. In this post, two new seasonal Minoh Beer releases, "Spring Lager" and "Ume-chu," were introduced.
Spring Lager
"Spring Lager" is a German-style pilsner. While Minoh Beer's standard pilsner is a Czech-style Bohemian pilsner, this one is designed more in the German direction. Using German malt to bring out crispness and body, with an all-German hop lineup, it is a clean, well-balanced beer that is fermented and matured slowly at low temperatures. Alc. 5.0%, IBU 25.
Ume-chu
The other beer, "Ume-chu," is a collaboration between Mikkeller TOKYO × Minoh Beer. Based on a pleasantly tart sour beer, it uses plenty of fully ripened Nanko plums from Minabe Town in Wakayama Prefecture. Its features are a sweet-tart fruit aroma, light acidity, and a clean finish. At Alc. 4.0% and IBU 23, it is an easy-drinking beer for the hotter season ahead.
Atmosphere and pairing
Chillaxin' Book Shop's appeal lies in being able to enjoy Minoh Beer in a space surrounded by books. These two beers suit both people who want to enjoy the sharpness of a gentle lager and those who want to switch moods with the acidity of plum. Stopping by during Golden Week and comparing the flavors in the quiet of a used bookstore sounds like a good idea.
