Chillaxin' Book Shop adds Minoh Beer’s Summer Lager and Weiss IPA
Chillaxin' Book Shop in Nakano has added two Minoh Beer seasonals to its lineup: the crisp, rice-finished Summer Lager and the new Weiss IPA, a wheat-heavy beer with bright hop aroma. The secondhand-book setting gives the pours a relaxed, browse-and-drink feel.
Chillaxin' Book Shop is a secondhand bookstore and beer spot about a seven-minute walk from Nakano Station, set along the approach to Araiyakushi. The shop stocks a wide range of books, from culture and design to sports, picture books, and fiction, and frames itself as a place to slow down with beer or coffee.
Its latest guest beers are Minoh Beer’s Summer Lager and Weiss IPA. Summer Lager is a bright, hop-forward lager brewed with American hops and rice. It opens with citrus-driven aroma and finishes light and dry. At 5.0% ABV and 30 IBU, it is built for warm weather drinking.
Weiss IPA is the newer release. Minoh uses roughly 50% wheat malt here, then layers Nelson Sauvin, Dolcita, and Citra for a profile that leans into white grape, white flowers, peach, lychee, and citrus. It is also 5.0% ABV, but with a softer 16 IBU bitterness and a hazy, fruit-forward texture.
For beer drinkers, the appeal is not only the lineup itself but the setting: a bookstore where you can browse shelves, settle in with a pint, and catch seasonal beers in a calm, unforced atmosphere. Minoh’s latest two beers fit that pace well.
