Release overview

Great Dane Brewing, which operates in Akiu, Taihaku Ward, Sendai, will start an early rollout of its new WHITE ALE on July 31 at selected 7-Eleven stores in Miyagi Prefecture. The beer will also be served on draft in Akiu, giving drinkers two ways to experience the release: canned retail and brewery-side draft service.

A collaboration rooted in Akiu

WHITE ALE was created in collaboration with Teshigoto Akiu, a group of makers working under the idea of "handcrafted work" in the Akiu area. The brewery describes the beer as one made with the clear spring water of the Futakuchi Gorge, layered with bright citrus aroma and a soft, rounded body. The focus on local water and regional craftsmanship makes the beer feel closely tied to its place of origin.

About Great Dane Brewing

Great Dane Brewing was founded in Madison, Wisconsin, in 1994. In Akiu, the company operates both a brewery and a restaurant, serving fresh beer alongside dishes built around ingredients from Miyagi and the wider Tohoku region. The brewery has consistently combined its American roots with the local character of Akiu, and WHITE ALE follows that same direction.

The release strategy is also notable: cans for easy access through convenience stores, and draft pours for visitors to the brewery area. For beer fans, that means the same beer can be experienced in two different settings, with subtle differences in how the beer is enjoyed.
