Hansharo Beer, based in Izu no Kuni, Shizuoka, has brewed IZUPPAKO BEER in collaboration with the Izu Hakone Railway Sunzu Line. The railway runs from Mishima to Izu and is widely known by its local nickname, “Izuppako,” while offering views of Mount Fuji along the route.

The beer was created to commemorate the 2026 Hansharo Beer Garden Train, a joint project that turns a train carriage into a beer garden. For the 2026 release, Hansharo Beer used a bright and highly drinkable saison as the base and added a generous amount of amanatsu citrus from Izu near the end of fermentation.

The citrus brings fresh aromas and a sweet-tart fruit character, complemented by the fruity and subtly spicy notes of saison yeast. The beer pours a bright, pale yellow. Its aroma suggests juicy amanatsu, orange, and grapefruit, while the palate opens with lively citrus fruitiness before developing a refreshing acidity and gentle bitterness. The finish is clean and light, making the beer easy to continue drinking.

IZUPPAKO BEER is brewed in the saison style with Citra and Simcoe hops. It has an alcohol content of 6.0% and an IBU of 10, and is available in 350ml cans and 10L kegs. Hansharo Beer recommends pairing it with an ebi-katsu sandwich, as the citrus acidity helps refresh the richness of the dish.

Hansharo Beer was founded in 1997 by Kuraya Narusawa, a company located beside the UNESCO World Heritage Site Nirayama Reverberatory Furnace. Alongside its core beers, the brewery produces a wide range of limited releases that reflect local ingredients, history, and regional culture. IZUPPAKO BEER is a fitting expression of Izu, designed to be enjoyed while imagining the scenery passing outside a train window.
