Fukuoka-based Ohori Brewery has released a new IPA, "PACIFIC AFTERGLOW." The specs shown in the post are Style: WEST COAST IPA / ABV 7.0% / IBU 70. It is being sold in two formats: draft service at the brewery and canned beer sales.

Key points about this beer

According to the brewery's description, it was designed with the long-supported "West Coast IPA" character in mind, one of the most enduring styles in craft beer history. The color leans toward amber to copper, derived from roasted malt. The aroma is built around grapefruit-like citrus and a strong piney nuance.

The flavor delivers a substantial bitterness while finishing crisp and clean. As the IBU 70 figure suggests, the bitterness is clearly present, but this beer is designed not to end as mere sharpness. At ABV 7.0%, it also has plenty of body. This is the kind of beer you’ll want to sip slowly and follow the changing aroma and bitterness.

A new release in the context of Ohori Brewery

As a local brewery in Fukuoka, Ohori Brewery stands out for moving forward with both taproom experiences and can releases in parallel. This time as well, it is offering both draft for immediate enjoyment and cans to take home, creating a path that makes craft beer easier to choose in everyday life.

This release, which reintroduces a classic style through a modern interpretation, looks like one to check out first if you're looking for an IPA with a clearly defined bitterness.
