The venue opened in 2011 and sits on the second floor of Ichibankan Building in Araki-cho, Shinjuku. It is a compact beer bar near Yotsuya-Sanchome Station, which makes it an easy stop after work. The notice also says the bar will be closed on Tuesdays and public holidays from December 5, 2024.

Marumugi also announced a July 4 event featuring a debut tasting of an original beer produced by kōdan performer Kanda Hinomaru. The program pairs a coffee-scented special beer with a visit to Oiwa Inari Tamiya Shrine and a performance of "Yotsuya Kaidan". The event will be held at Marumugi, with admission priced at JPY 2,000 plus drinks. It is a fitting example of the bar's mix of local beer culture and curated events.
