A two-day special pour

MOKICHI CRAFTBEER will serve its monthly Randall beer on August 29 and 30. The base is Shonan Beer’s Fresh Hop IPA, then fresh Japanese hop Shinshu Wase is passed through the Randall filter to create what the post describes as Super Fresh Hop IPA.

The Randall filter was developed by the U.S. craft brewery Dogfish Head as a device for adding aroma and flavor through ingredients such as hops and fruit. Unlike a recipe change at the tank or keg stage, this is a last-step transformation at the point of pouring, which makes the difference easier to feel in the glass.

The venue itself is a classic beer pub near Fujisawa Station’s south exit, with 12 taps on constant rotation. Its menu centers on beer-friendly dishes, including NY-style pizza, grilled and roasted plates, and small bites. Tasting the standard Shonan Beer pour alongside the Randall-treated version should make the change in aroma and hop character especially clear.
