Yokohama Beer Brewery will hold “Japan’s Birthplace of Beer, Yokohama: Tamakusu Beer Terrace” at the Yokohama Archives of History on October 10, 2026. Presented as an occasional festival-style event, the gathering will bring together Yokohama’s brewing culture and the city’s history.

The venue will include the barrier-free deck surrounding the Tamakusu tree, associated with Commodore Perry’s landing in Yokohama, as well as the museum’s Rose Terrace. Visitors can enjoy craft beer and food in a historic setting. The event is scheduled to run from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

A limited tasting set featuring beers from 13 Yokohama breweries will be available on the day. The set will offer beer fans an opportunity to compare different brewing approaches and discover the diversity of the city’s craft beer scene. The 13-brewery tasting set will be sold only on October 10.

The event will also introduce the history of beer and Yokohama. A pre-event program on October 9 is scheduled to include a talk by the deputy director of the Yokohama Archives of History and members of the Yokohama Craft Beer Association.

Yokohama Beer began brewing in 1999 in Yokohama, a city widely associated with the early development of beer culture in Japan. The brewery operates UMAYA, a brewpub and restaurant near Kannai and Bashamichi, where guests can enjoy freshly brewed beer alongside dishes made with ingredients from Yokohama and Kanagawa.

By combining local history, food, and beers from across the city, Tamakusu Beer Terrace offers a distinctive way to experience Yokohama’s brewing culture. It should appeal to beer enthusiasts looking to explore local breweries while taking an autumn walk through one of Yokohama’s historic districts.
