At the brewpub "Mamemame Beer" in Sakate, Shodoshima Town, Shodoshima District, Kagawa Prefecture, "SUPER JUICE," the second collaboration with KyotoBeerLab, is on tap. In the post, it is introduced in-store as "Super Orange," but the official name is "SUPER JUICE." Service began during Golden Week.
For this batch, the star ingredient is amanatsu citrus from Shodoshima, and not only the peel but also the juice is used generously. The base is a pilsner, with a special lager yeast and American dry hops, plus Loral Cryo hops, layered on top of the "Super Juice" concept that makes use of citrus oils and juice. The finished beer is a sour citrus pilsner with an ABV of 5% and an IBU of 24, offering juiciness while keeping a calm, easy-drinking character.
Last time, the collaboration was brewed in Kyoto, but this time Tom and Leon crossed over to Shodoshima to make it happen. By adding the insight of outside brewers to Mamemame Beer’s commitment to continuing to use island ingredients, the range of beer expression expanded even further. As a beer that combines the local feel unique to a Shodoshima brewpub with an experimental design, it is a guest beer worth checking out when visiting the island.
