PEPOWN to Host a Three-Day Nara Brewing Tap Showcase
PEPOWN, a brewery in Chigasaki, Kanagawa, will host “Hello! Nara Brewing” from September 19 to 21. The event will feature a broad selection from Nara Brewing, ranging from easy-drinking lagers and wheat ales to barrel pours and bottle-conditioned saisons served by the glass.
Nara Brewing takes over the taps at PEPOWN
PEPOWN, a brewery located in Chigasaki’s Kyoei district, will hold the seventh edition of its monthly “Hello!” series from September 19 through 21. Each edition focuses on one brewery, and this installment will explore the beers of Nara Brewing from Nara City, Nara Prefecture.
The draft lineup includes LIGHTHOUSE (Micro Porter / 3%), a low-alcohol porter served on nitro for a creamy texture and roast-driven cocoa and coffee notes. TIMMUR (Amber Lager w/ Himalayan Pepper / 5%) combines malt sweetness and hop bitterness with the gentle tingling character of Nepalese timur pepper.
WATERMELON HEAD (Wheat Ale w/ Watermelon / 5%) offers a soft wheat mouthfeel and fresh watermelon aroma, while KIP (Hoppy Pilsner / 5.5%) uses fresh, undried hops for a crisp pour that develops more hop character as it warms. FUNCTION (American-Belgo-Style Ale / 6%), a Nara Brewing staple, layers Nelson Sauvin with Hallertau Blanc and Mosaic over a dry saison-yeast profile. The brewery notes that it received a gold medal at the 2026 WBC.
The selection also includes STUDY IN ROUGE (Fruit Sour Ale w/ Vanilla / 6%), pairing raspberry tartness with gentle vanilla, and LOCOMOTION (American IPA / 6.5%), a drinkable IPA with grapefruit-like citrus and tropical pineapple impressions.
Bottle-conditioned saisons by the glass
PEPOWN will also serve INTEGRAL (Saison / 9%) and INTEGRAL B (Brett Saison / 9%) by the glass. INTEGRAL is a classic bottle-conditioned saison with fruity aromas and refined bitterness. INTEGRAL B follows the same recipe with Brettanomyces yeast, bringing earthy, wild aromatics and a spicy, layered profile.
The event offers a useful cross-section of Nara Brewing’s range, from refreshing lagers and wheat ales to fruit-forward sour beer and contemplative bottle-conditioned saisons. On September 21, designer Genki is also scheduled to visit the venue.
