Matsumoto Brewery to Release Yari-Hotaka Mountain Hut Exclusive Beer 2025 Starting in July
On July 7, 2025, Matsumoto Brewery (Matsumoto, Nagano Prefecture) announced the "North Alps Yari-Hotaka Area Mountain Hut Joint Project Beer 2025 Release." The "Yariho Craft Beer," sold only at mountain huts in the Yari-Hotaka mountain range, will begin rolling out sequentially at each facility from July 2025 onward.
The 2025 edition of "Yariho Craft Beer" announced by Matsumoto Brewery is a limited project developed in collaboration with mountain huts in the Yari and Hotaka area. Its biggest distinguishing feature is that sales are restricted to mountain huts in the Northern Alps, making it a beer designed around the value of enjoying it together with the alpine scenery after a climb.
The style announced this time is a session IPA that is fruity, hop-forward, and easy to drink. The price is 1,200 yen (tax included). The release is scheduled for sequential rollout from July 2025 onward, and arrival timing will vary by facility.
The main sales locations are divided into the following three categories.
- Ver. Yari-Hotaka: Gotenjo Hutte, Hutte Nishidake, Daitenso, Jonen Hut, Yokoo Sanso, Yaridaira Hut, Chojogatake Hutte
- Ver. Yari: Yarigatake Sanso, Yarisawa Lodge, Minamidake Hut, Sesso Hutte, Hutte Oyari
- Ver. Hotaka: Nishiho Sanso, Hotakadake Sanso, Kitahotakadake Hut, Karasawa Hut, Karasawa Hutte, Tokuwa Sanso
Matsumoto Brewery, which handles the brewing, was founded in 2016. It carries out full-scale production at its brewery in Nomizo Nishi, Matsumoto City, and has been developing craft beer that makes use of local water and ingredients. As a brewery located at the foot of the Northern Alps, its collaboration with mountain huts in the alpine area, and its effort to build into the product design even the "meaning of drinking it in that place," makes this release noteworthy as an initiative by a local brewery.
Not a beer you buy in town and bring with you, but one you encounter at the destination you reached. Once again this year, the release presents a concrete form of the connection between mountaineering and craft beer.
