The official Instagram account of the Seiji Ozawa Matsumoto Festival (OMF) marked July 16 with a post saying there was one month to go. Local elementary school children had planted flowers around Kissei Bunka Hall, the venue for the orchestra concerts, creating a more welcoming setting for audiences and performers. A follow-up post on July 17 pointed visitors to Matsumoto's local-food guide and encouraged food-focused strolling during the festival stay.

For Matsumoto Brewery, that citywide festival atmosphere is part of its own origin story. According to the brewery's official site, it grew out of volunteer work for the former Saito Kinen Festival Matsumoto, when the team wanted to serve local beer at the venue and later decided to brew it themselves if none existed. The brewery was founded in 2016, and its story still reflects that mix of music, community, and local pride.

Today, Matsumoto Brewery operates multiple taprooms in the city and continues to brew with an emphasis on local water and ingredients. The festival brings people into Matsumoto; the brewery gives them another way to experience the city. That connection is what makes this collaboration feel natural rather than forced: a summer music festival, a local brewery, and a downtown that invites visitors to linger a little longer.
