Hansharo Beer Brewing releases limited Poseidon’s Brew West Coast Double IPA
Hansharo Beer Brewing in Izu no Kuni, Shizuoka, has unveiled Poseidon’s Brew, a limited West Coast Double IPA. Brewed with a generous dose of American hops and dry-hopped with Motueka, it comes in at 8.0% ABV and 40 IBU.
Hansharo Beer Brewing, based in Izu Nirayama in Izu no Kuni, Shizuoka, has announced a limited beer called Poseidon’s Brew. The beer is a West Coast Double IPA, designed as a summer release with a bold hop profile and a clear finish.
The brewery uses Amarillo Cryo, Citra Cryo, Motueka, Mosaic, El Dorado, and Simcoe. It also applies Amarillo Cryo as a dip hop to wort before fermentation, with the aim of making the hop flavor feel more vivid. In the glass, the beer shows a bright, transparent gold color. Aromatically, it starts with yellow citrus from American hops, then shifts toward tropical notes from New Zealand hops.
On the palate, the beer brings flavors reminiscent of lemon, pineapple, and white grape, followed by a pleasant bitterness. It is packaged at 8.0% ABV and 40 IBU, balancing drinkability with the fuller body expected from a Double IPA. The brewery suggests pairing it with seafood or grilled dishes.
Hansharo Beer Brewing is rooted in the history of the Nirayama Reverberatory Furnace area and emphasizes a balance of tradition and innovation in its brewing. With a beer stand located near the reverberatory furnace site, the brewery continues to release seasonal and limited beers while staying closely connected to the local region. Poseidon’s Brew fits that line of limited releases as a seasonal hop-forward offering.
