Craft Beer Spot Hathor Opens Amakusa Shiranui Weizen on Tap for 5/26
The beer pub Craft Beer Spot Hathor in Kyobashi, Osaka, unveiled its May 26 draft lineup. From Moji Port Beer’s Amakusa Shiranui Weizen to pale ales and imperial stouts, the selection spans a wide range of styles.
Craft Beer Spot Hathor, which opened in 2015 in Kyobashi, Osaka, is a beer pub where you can enjoy 16 taps of craft beer and house-smoked dishes. The tap guide for the day was arranged so drinkers could choose according to their mood, from fruity wheat beers to heavy dark beers.
The main highlight is Moji Port Beer’s Amakusa Shiranui Weizen. It generously uses Shiranui citrus juice from Yamashita Orchard in Amakusa City, blending the bright aroma and pleasant acidity of Shiranui into a weizen for an easy-drinking pint. Within the soft mouthfeel typical of a wheat beer, you can sense the lift of fruit-driven brightness.
Recommended beers include Pale Ale / Sierra Nevada, Mirror Pond Pale Ale / Deschutes, and Old Rasputin / North Coast. Sierra Nevada’s Pale Ale balances verdant, grassy and floral hop character with malt sweetness, ending with a dry finish. The draft version differs from the packaged release in recipe, and it is also noted as 5.0% ABV and IBU 34. Mirror Pond Pale Ale is a single-hop pale ale whose hallmarks are floral and citrus-like hops and smooth caramel malt. Old Rasputin is a Russian imperial stout with rich dark-chocolate-like depth and a complex aroma.
The day’s taps also included Super Dry / Asahi Breweries, Yuya Boys IPL Jamboree SP Ver / Onidensetsu Beer, Yasato / Oyamaz G Beer, Echoes / Nara Brewing, Morning Sauna / Rise & Win, Mr. Dunk / Isekadoya Beer, Lupulin Nectar / Y Market, and Bakushu no Osho / Y Market. From a light, crisp pint to a full-bodied dark beer, it was a lineup you could enjoy widely alongside food.
