Ten Forward to Release New Iwami Tomato Saison on July 4
Ten Forward in Iwami, Tottori, has announced a new craft beer called IWAMI TOMATO SAISON. Made with locally grown Iwami tomatoes and sun-dried salt, it is scheduled to go on sale on July 4 at Michi-no-Eki Kinanse Iwami.
Ten Forward has introduced a new craft beer, IWAMI TOMATO SAISON, made with Iwami Tomato, one of the region's best-known local vegetables. In its post, the brewery says the tomatoes from farm Springboard are tree-ripened and packed with rich flavor.
How the beer came together
The beer grew out of a long-standing idea: to make a beer with these tomatoes someday. Ten Forward says it continued to build brewing skills and experience, and only recently felt ready to take on the challenge.
Flavor design
The base style is saison, a beer style often associated with farmhouse brewing in Belgium. To that, the brewery added Iwami tomatoes that had been sorted out for cosmetic reasons, along with sun-dried salt. The result was designed to bring together gentle tomato umami, fresh acidity, and the light, easy-drinking character typical of saison.
Local collaboration
The label artwork was created by Tani Saori, who gave the beer a visual identity that reflects the tomatoes' dense, vivid character. Ten Forward is based in Iwami Town, Tottori Prefecture, and has been developing local craft beers that highlight regional ingredients.
The beer is scheduled to be released on July 4 at Michi-no-Eki Kinanse Iwami. As a new local beer born from the meeting of agriculture and brewing in Iwami, it should appeal to drinkers looking for something distinctly regional.
