Tsukuba Brewery serves the popular keg-only “Doblehazyipa” at the shop in front of Dobo Park
Tsukuba Brewery has begun serving the keg-only beer “Doblehazyipa,” which gained popularity immediately after its release at the shop in front of Dobo Park, at its brewery at the foot of Mt. Tsukuba starting this week. It’s a beer that combines the bitterness typical of an IPA with the juicy aroma typical of a HAZY.
Expanded availability through keg-only service
Tsukuba Brewery announced on Instagram that its keg-only “Doblehazyipa” had been a hit from the moment it was released at the shop in front of Dobo Park. Starting this week, it has also been put on tap at the brewery at the foot of Mt. Tsukuba. Tsukuba Brewery began in Tsukuba City, Ibaraki Prefecture, in 2020, and in spring 2024 it opened a new brewery at the foot of Mt. Tsukuba. While shifting brewing functions away from the shop near Dobo Park, it is expanding the options for enjoying locally brewed craft beer.
Flavor direction
In the post, the beer is introduced as a finished product that offers the firm bitterness associated with an IPA and a fruitiness that spreads across the palate. Thanks to the thick body that is also characteristic of HAZY beers, the flavor and aroma are said to feel like fruit juice. Designed to highlight aroma, flavor, and a satisfying mouthfeel, it is also easy to see why this is a beer people want to drink as the seasons change.
Drinking it in the Tsukuba context
The brewery has continued making beers that are in tune with the local character of Tsukuba City, guided by the philosophy of “connecting people to people.” The brewery at the foot of Mt. Tsukuba is located directly behind the Tsukuba Sanga bus stop, making it possible to enjoy locally made beer together with the atmosphere of the area itself. Since it is a limited keg-only offering, it is one to try when you spot it.
