Toki Brewery, based in Niigata and Sado, has unveiled the latest version of its core pale ale, "NP v4.0."

The specs revealed in the post are as follows.

- Style: American Pale Ale
- Hops: Columbus, Idaho7, Citra, Mosaic
- ABV: 5.5%

In the comments, the brewery explained that this version changes the base malt and is aimed at creating an even more "easy-drinking pale ale." Rather than pushing the hops too far forward, or making the malt too heavy, the brewers said they focused on finding a middle balance and refined the recipe through repeated brewing trials.

The hop bill itself follows the previous version (v3.0), while the amount and timing of the dry hopping have been adjusted. The result is a design that layers soft malt character over aromas reminiscent of grapefruit, berries, and mango from Citra and Mosaic.

Toki Brewery continues to present itself on its official website as a "microbrewery on Sado Island." While it is rooted in the context of place-based brewing, its approach of gradually updating its core lineup is likely a development craft beer fans looking for an everyday beer will not want to miss.

NP v4.0 was conceived as the "first beer" for a taproom visit. For anyone who values the balance between drinkability and aroma, this is a release that makes you want to taste the difference for yourself.
