Hiruzen Brewery Tsuchi to Mizu Offers Founding Sour Ale in a One-Set Sale
Hiruzen Brewery Tsuchi to Mizu in Maniwa, Okayama, is offering a three-bottle set of its first-ever brew, Sour Ale 2023 [S-1], to one customer only. The final three bottles are available as a 330 ml set for ¥4,500 before tax.
Hiruzen Brewery Tsuchi to Mizu, based in Maniwa, Okayama, has announced a limited sale of its Sour Ale 2023 [S-1]. The offer consists of three 330 ml bottles for one selected customer, priced at ¥4,500 before tax.
S-1 was the brewery’s first beer brewed after its founding, making it a particularly meaningful release for the team. The beer was brewed on August 10, 2023, and bottled on September 1, 2023. Its alcohol content is 3% ABV.
The brewery recently opened one bottle and tasted it with a customer. According to the announcement, the beer still shows a firm acidity, while time has softened its edges and brought out a complex finish. The brewery summed up the experience simply: “Delicious.”
Only the final three bottles remain in the cellar. Interested buyers are asked to contact the brewery by Instagram direct message. If several people apply, the brewery will exchange messages with applicants before selecting one purchaser; the announcement does not specify a first-come, first-served system.
For a brewery rooted in the landscape of Hiruzen, S-1 offers a taste of Tsuchi to Mizu’s earliest brewing history. Its combination of acidity, a softer palate, and layered aftertaste should appeal to drinkers who enjoy aged or characterful sour ales.
