A look at the canning floor

Chuo Line Beer Works (Koganei, Tokyo) introduced its can-filling process on Instagram. The post shows beer being filled into cans inside the brewery, offering a behind-the-scenes look at how finished beer spreads out as a product for store shelves and takeaway.

Chuo Line Beer Works is a brewery under the elevated tracks between JR Chuo Line's Higashi-Koganei and Musashi-Koganei stations. It launched in 2025 as JR East Group's first directly operated craft beer brewery. Another defining feature is that a former station attendant is involved in product development as a brewer, sharing beer culture tied to everyday life and travel along the line.

The facility is equipped with a 500-liter brewhouse, seven fermentation tanks, and a canning line. The taproom serves house-brewed beer as well as guest beers, and canned products are available to take home. This post highlights the process that supports not only a pint enjoyed in-house, but also one picked up during daily shopping or on the way along the line.

Brewed in a narrow space under the elevated tracks and sent out in cans, Chuo Line Beer Works' efforts once again give a concrete picture of its identity as a locally rooted brewery.
