At “Minamiaizu Mountain Brewing / Taproom BeerFridge BeerFridge” in Minamiaizu Town, an event themed around Finland’s midsummer festival, “Juhannus in Minamiaizu,” will be held. True to its brewpub identity, MMtB beer will be served on eight taps at the venue. The individual beer labels were not disclosed in the post, but the lineup will differ from the one offered during Golden Week.
This time, the event is notable not only for beer but also for its strong focus on food and experiences. A chef will visit from Finland and prepare three to four kinds of dishes. The menu includes “Voileipäkakku,” a salmon and cream cheese sandwich cake; “Makkara & grillattu varhaiskaali,” grilled homemade sausage with spring cabbage; and “Lohikeitto,” salmon soup.
In addition, a sauna making use of the brewery’s equipment will be available, and participation is free. Clothing that can get wet and a towel are required, and a cold plunge bath and an improvised jacuzzi will also be set up. Using the taproom attached to the brewery as an event venue in this way is very much in keeping with Minamiaizu Mountain Brewing’s style.
This event offers the chance to enjoy craft beer in Aizu-Tajima while experiencing Finnish food and a sauna all at once. In addition to its beer-centered operations, the event expands the role of the taproom by layering local seasonal traditions with foreign food culture.
