A third-anniversary celebration in Takamatsu

Taru Taru, a craft beer pub located in Kawaramachi, Takamatsu, will celebrate its third anniversary with an event on Sunday, November 8. Although the pub’s actual anniversary is November 11, the celebration will run from 3:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Entry is planned to be free of charge.

The featured beer will be an anniversary brew commissioned from Shirosuzume. The owner visited the brewery during the brewing process and described being surrounded by a gentle, malt-candy-like aroma as the beer came together.

For the style, Taru Taru chose a Weizen, a style the pub says is relatively uncommon among Japanese breweries. The beer was developed to be closer to a classical German Weizen than Shirosuzume’s well-known “Kamite Mari,” while still being easy to drink over several glasses. A tasting reportedly revealed an especially aromatic beer, making it a fitting choice for the cooler, crisp atmosphere of autumn.

Food designed for the beer

The event will also feature a special dumpling project by Yorozu Tsumiya Umetsu. Fish shumai is being developed to pair with the beer, while sausages in a different style from the pub’s usual menu are also planned. Fish and chips are another candidate, selected for their expected compatibility with the Weizen.

With its relaxed beer-pub setting in Takamatsu’s Kawaramachi district, Taru Taru will offer an opportunity to enjoy a new Shirosuzume anniversary beer alongside food created specifically for the occasion.
