Edajima Works receives JGBA2026 certificates and medals, with IPA gold and Weizen bronze
Edajima Works has received the certificates and medals it won at the Japan Great Beer Awards 2026 held in February. Its IPA took gold and its Weizen took bronze, with the beers from the brewery in Etajima City, Hiroshima, once again earning recognition.
Edajima Works announced that the certificates and medals it won at the Japan Great Beer Awards 2026, held in February, have arrived. The post showed the full set of commemorative items for the awards.
In this year’s JGBA2026, Edajima Works’ `IPA` won gold in the “Session India Pale Ale” category, while its `Weizen` won bronze in the “South German-style Hefeweizen” category. Both were recognized in the bottled-and-canned division, giving two beers in different styles a place on the medal list.
Edajima Works is a craft beer brewery located in Etajima City, Hiroshima Prefecture. It is known as a facility that combines a renovated section of an old sake brewery on Etajima with new brewing equipment housed in an old wooden building. The brewery began making beer in 2022 with the goal of creating local specialty products, and has continued brewing in a way that draws on the island’s character.
This latest recognition is notable because two styles with very different personalities were both evaluated highly: an IPA with a pronounced hop aroma and a Weizen known for its soft, wheat-derived drinkability. Brewing efforts built up in Etajima have now translated into results in a nationwide judging competition.
