Etajima Works has released its first lager, Dortmunder. In the post, the brewery says this beer is the 101st brew since the first batch and describes it as a lager in the Dortmunder, or export, family.

Etajima Works is a brewery in Etajima City, Hiroshima. The operation is run by Hiraoka, whose core business is liquor wholesale, and the brewing facility sits on the grounds of Tsuda Sake Brewery in Nohmi-cho Nakacho. That setting places the brewery within a larger local story, rooted in an old sake-brewing site and tied closely to the island's drink culture.

Etajima itself is a Seto Inland Sea island known for oysters, citrus, and olives. Adding a lager to a lineup that has focused on ale styles and seasonal beers gives the brewery a broader range and a different drinking experience.

Dortmunder is a lager style often associated with a clean finish and a solid malt backbone. For Etajima Works, the release marks a clear step beyond its existing core beers and opens the door to more lager-focused brewing in the future.
