Coffee-Driven New Release at a Koenji Brewpub
AND BEER, a brewpub in Koenji Kita, Suginami Ward, Tokyo, introduced "AND TAMIRU TADESSE Coffee Ale" as a new guest beer on April 24. In its post, it noted all-day service from 11:30 to 22:00, lunch from 11:30 to 15:00, happy hour from 15:00 to 18:00, and beer takeout from 9:30 to 22:00, conveying a service style that makes it easy to stop by from daytime into the evening.
According to the official site, this beer is a Coffee Ale with an ABV of 6%. It uses Ethiopia's "Tamiru Tadese Murago," roasted by Coffee Wrights in Kuramae, Tokyo, and is designed to layer coffee impressions reminiscent of grape and peach with the lively ale character of expressive yeast. Even though it uses coffee, it is positioned not as a heavy stout but as a beer that emphasizes a balance of fruitiness and aroma.
The Instagram text also mentioned baking carrot cake to go with lunch, along with a cherry blossom-shaped pudding and rosemary shortbread made with cultured butter and spent grain. In true brewpub fashion, it clearly emphasizes enjoying food and beer together, which feels very much like AND BEER. It is the kind of place suited to people in Koenji who want to pair a craft beer with coffee-derived aromas alongside a meal.
