Yokohama Beer Brewery will gradually release its sixth canned beer, “Yokohama Saison,” at retailers nationwide and in its official online shop starting April 1. This new beer combines Belgium’s traditional saison style with the latest hop, Krush, and is characterized by its brisk, easy-drinking profile.
Yokohama Beer Brewery released its sixth canned beer, “Yokohama Saison,” on April 1. This new product will be sold gradually at retailers nationwide and through the official online shop. It has an alcohol by volume of 4.5% and an IBU of 17. It is a beer that layers the spicy, lively qualities typical of saison with aromas reminiscent of citrus and tropical fruit brought by the latest hop, Krush.
Head brewer Ida, who was in charge of recipe development, said the goal was to maintain respect for tradition while adding a challenge that is distinctly Yokohama Beer. The saison’s structure remains intact, but the drinking experience is light. It is designed to be enjoyed slowly on a pleasant afternoon. Suggested pairings include white fish carpaccio with dill and dishes made with early-summer vegetables.
Yokohama Beer, founded in 1999, is a local beer company based in Naka Ward, Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture. In addition to staple beers such as Yokohama Lager and Yokohama Wheat, it has actively developed limited-batch brews and beers created in collaboration with the local community. This “Yokohama Saison” also appears likely to become a new regular in that lineup. To commemorate the release, an event will also be held on April 1 at the main restaurant UMAYA and the first-floor beer stand, creating a setup where visitors can enjoy the opening-day excitement on the spot.
