In an Instagram post from Yokohama Beer’s main restaurant, UMAYA, the brewery announced a new addition to its Brewers One Series: "Super Sonic Speed Sour." The style is Fruit Sour Ale, with specs of ABV 4.0 / IBU 3, making it a light, easy-drinking beer.

This post framed the release as a collaboration under the theme "Yokobi x S4," with the tapping set for 4:00 p.m. on Monday, March 16, 2026. It also announced that canned draft beer will go on sale from 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 17. On the day of the tapping, Head Brewer Ida, who handled the brew, is expected to appear at the first-floor beer stand around 7:30 p.m., offering visitors a chance to hear the story behind the beer directly.

A key recipe point is its citrus profile, built around lemon and bergamot. While making use of the refreshing aroma derived from bergamot, the yeast is not limited to Philly Sour alone; Yokohama Beer’s standard ale yeast, No.1056, was pitched at the same time. Lactose was also used to keep the acidity from becoming too sharp, resulting in a mellow sour character. The brewer’s comments also describe it as a beer that aims to reinterpret and update a previous batch.

Yokohama Beer Brewery, based in Kanagawa, has continuously released a wide range of styles, from core beers to limited editions. Brewers One Series, which highlights the individual exploratory themes of each brewer, is one of the brewery’s best ways to experience that flexible approach to beer-making. This "Super Sonic Speed Sour," with its low alcohol content and layered citrus character, is one to watch as a springtime beer.
