Marumugi, a small beer pub in Arakicho, Shinjuku, posted its June 5 draft lineup featuring five beers from breweries in Shizuoka, Tochigi, Osaka, and Tokyo. The shop also announced a special July 4 event with storyteller Kanda Hinomaru.
On June 5, Marumugi, a small beer pub in Arakicho, Shinjuku, listed five draft beers on its daily menu. The shop is located on the second floor of Ichibankan Building, a short walk from Yotsuya-Sanchome Station, and it presents the kind of lineup that works both for a quick first pint and for a more deliberate tasting session.
Beer lineup
- Hon Nama / Repubrew (Shizuoka) 5.5%
- Suruga Bay Imperial IPA / Baird Brewing (Shizuoka) 8.5% +100 yen
- Grapefruit Sour / Minoh Beer (Osaka) 4.5% +100 yen
- If in Doubt, This Pale Ale! / Ushi-Tora Brewery (Tochigi) 5.0% +100 yen
- Third Wave Porter / VECTOR BEER (Tokyo) 4.0% +100 yen
The menu positions Repubrew’s Hon Nama as the recommended first pour. From there, Suruga Bay Imperial IPA pushes the bitterness higher, while Grapefruit Sour brings a bright citrus profile. If in Doubt, This Pale Ale! is the safe choice when you want a balanced pale ale, and Third Wave Porter offers a dark beer that is described as surprisingly refreshing.
Marumugi also announced a special event for July 4, 2026. The program will feature storyteller Kanda Hinomaru, who is marking the second anniversary of his radio show, and a beer he produced from an original recipe with a coffee aroma. The event pairs the beer with a live performance of Yotsuya Kaidan, and a visit to nearby Oiwa Inari Tamiya Shrine is planned before the show.
The shop notes that it has been closed on Tuesdays and public holidays since December 5, 2024. It will also be closed on June 7 and 8, 2026, with regular service resuming on June 10.
