Abukuma Riverside Brewery (Tamakawa Village, Ishikawa District, Fukushima Prefecture) introduced its new product, "Kannonji Sakura Lager," on Instagram. The details of the post itself could not be confirmed, but the brewery’s own facility is located inside Otona Eki Tamakawa, a mixed-use waterside complex on the banks of the Abukuma River.

According to the official website, Abukuma Beer has been promoting the revival of hop cultivation in Tamakawa Village and the creation of beer that "can only be made in Tamakawa Village" using those hops. Brewing is done in small 500- to 1,000-liter batches, each one carefully crafted, with an emphasis on balancing hop aroma and malt flavor. Tamakawa Village is also known for agricultural products such as hardy kiwi, blueberries, tomatoes, and rice, which fits well with the brewery’s policy of making use of local ingredients.

This new "Kannonji Sakura Lager" deserves attention as a fresh label introduced within that locally rooted approach. With a lager-like easy-drinking character and the soft impression suggested by the cherry blossom name, it also opens up the image of enjoying it with meals. Details on its flavor and sales information will have to be confirmed by following future official announcements.
