On April 4, Yokohama Beer Brewery, based in Yokohama City, announced on Instagram the fifth installment of its irregular “Matsuri” event series. This time, the event will be held as the “Piadina Festival” on Sunday, April 19, from 15:00 to 21:00 on the first floor.

In the post, “Matsuri” is described not simply as an event, but as a place that brings in “connections” and “vibrancy” expanding from a beer stand. Following the flow of the series, this time’s theme is piadina, a soul food of Italy’s Emilia-Romagna region. It is a dish made by wrapping meat, cheese, vegetables, and other ingredients in a thin flatbread, and this time the brewery says it will prepare a variety of fillings that pair well with beer.

Although piadina may look simple, it is a dish whose impression changes depending on the combination of fillings. When considering its compatibility with craft beer, the fun lies in finding the right balance with the malt sweetness, hop aroma, and bitterness. At a local brewery like Yokohama Beer Brewery, proposing pairings of food and drinks lets visitors discover a way of drinking that is a little different from their usual glass, which is one of the appeals of events like this.

The post also notes that the piadina will be served until sold out. If you are interested, it would be best to go earlier in the day.
