At GRANDPA FISH & CHIPS in Kameido, Tokyo, beer drinkers can usually find 4 to 5 Japanese craft beers on draft at this bright, counter-focused pub. The shop pairs that lineup with its signature herb-battered fish & chips, fried in olive oil, making it an easy place to visit when you want both food and beer in one stop.

In its June 29 post, the shop announced a new real ale: `STOUT` from Minoh Beer. The beer was set to go on once it was ready to serve. For fans of darker beers, that points to a malt-forward pint with roast character and enough body to stand up well to fried food.

The same post also included a few operating notes. The shop said it would be closed on June 30, and that from July 1 the last order for fried items on weekdays would change to 9:00 p.m. It also mentioned a DD4D tap takeover planned for July 11, while noting that the staff would be heading to a Yamabushi seminar at Shiga Kogen Beer.

If you are looking for a black real ale in Kameido, or simply a place where fish & chips and Japanese craft beer make sense together, this is one to keep on your radar.
