Kagiya Brewery introduces "LEMON IT BE," a lemon-forward fruit pale ale
Kagiya Brewery in Kawasaki has introduced a new beer called "LEMON IT BE." Brewed as a Fruit Pale Ale, it aims to balance bright lemon character with the hop aroma and bitterness that still make it unmistakably beer.
A new lemon-led release from a local Kawasaki brewery
Kagiya Brewery is based in Nakahara Ward, Kawasaki, Kanagawa, and produces around 10 craft beers by hand. Known for its brewery-adjacent taproom in Musashi-Nakahara, the company has built a local presence around freshly brewed beer served close to where it is made.
The new release, "LEMON IT BE," is a June beer built around lemon juice. The concept, as described by the brewery, is to create a beer with a lemon character that still feels like beer. Rather than leaning too far into dessert-like fruit flavors, the recipe keeps a clear beer structure and layers lemon brightness on top. The style is Fruit Pale Ale, so the base remains a pale-ale profile with hop aroma and bitterness intact.
In tasting notes, the beer is described as a pale, slightly hazy light gold that feels summery in the glass. The aroma starts with a solid hop presence, then opens into a sharp, clean lemon note on the palate. Instead of the sweetness often associated with fruit beers, it finishes dry and invites another sip. The alcohol content is 6.0%, and the brewery recommends serving it well chilled to bring out the refreshing side of the beer.
The beer is also being presented as the centerpiece of a Father's Day six-bottle set, alongside "MELLOW YELLOW IPA," "PILS NO.1," and "DOUBLE DECKER IPA." That lineup gives drinkers a chance to compare hop character, drinkability, and fruit-driven brightness in one package. For a regional brewery in Kawasaki, it is a straightforward but well-defined take on a lemon beer, and one that should fit the warmer months well.
