Kagoya Brewery will hold a special event called "Oomugi Daienkai" at the barley field behind its main shop from around 10:00 to 13:00 on Wednesday, May 6, a public holiday. In an Instagram announcement, the event was described as a chance to enjoy a brewery tour, sketching, and a photo session while toasting in a golden barley field just before harvest. Participation is limited to the first 60 people, and applications can be made through the Google Form in the profile. At the venue, cans of "Enketsu/Kakyu" beer will be sold for 500 yen each, and light meals and snacks may also be brought in.

Kagoya Brewery is Komae's first craft beer brewery, launched in 2017 by Koya Akimoto Shoten, a specialty liquor store in Komae City, Tokyo. Its official website says the brewery has continued taking on new challenges, including brewing with wooden barrels, while drawing on the experience of a long-established liquor shop. True to a brewery rooted in a liquor store, it stands out not only for the beer itself but also for sharing the backgrounds of the people who make it and the ingredients they use.

This event clearly reflects that approach as well. The format, which lets visitors see the brewing operation on a brewery tour, taste canned beer amid the scenery of the fields, and even add sketching and photography, goes beyond simply "drinking" craft beer. It should be a chance to see firsthand the barley grown in Komae and the work of a brewery rooted in the local community.
