Yokohama Beer Releases Its Sixth Can Beer, "Yokohama Saison," on April 1
Yokohama Beer released "Yokohama Saison," the sixth regular item in its can beer lineup, on April 1, 2026. It is a saison that celebrates a beer for relaxing, layering the spiciness and fruitiness derived from Belgian yeast with the aroma of the latest hop, "Krush."
Yokohama Beer's Sixth Can Beer
Yokohama Beer Brewery is a local brewery that began its journey in Yokohama in 1999. It started brewing at its directly operated restaurant, "Umaya no Shokutaku," and today it has become a fixture in the city as "Yokohama Beer Main Restaurant UMAYA." While valuing its ties to Yokohama and Kanagawa, it has continued expanding a lineup of distinctive can beers.
The newly added "Yokohama Saison" is the sixth release in that can beer series. A regular product released on April 1, 2026, it is also striking for its rainbow-colored package that evokes scenes of Yokohama.
A Saison That Reflects the Spirit of Producers
The beer style is saison. Originally, it was a traditional beer drunk by Belgian farmers between summer farming tasks, and Yokohama Beer focused on the "spirit of standing with producers" behind that background. In that sense, the brewery's approach of cherishing the work of people who touch the soil and cultivate crops overlaps with the roots of saison.
Head Brewer Shoichi Ida, who handled the brewing, says he built the beer on the spicy, lively aroma of traditional Belgian saison yeast and the dry, crisp finish typical of a saison, while generously adding the latest hop, "Krush." The mouthfeel is light, but aromas reminiscent of citrus and tropical fruit form layers, and the beer changes character the more you drink it. The alcohol content is 4.5%.
A Bottle-Canned Beer That Also Goes Well With Food
The article introduces "mozzarella and shirasu lemon carpaccio" as a recommended snack to pair with it. The lemon's acidity, the saltiness of the shirasu, and the texture of the mozzarella pair well with Yokohama Saison's refreshing aroma and crisp finish. The suggestion that it is a beer to enjoy while taking it easy on a sunny afternoon also perfectly expresses this beer's character.
The back of the can features a portion of the Yokohama ukiyo-e print "A True View of Bashamichi from Yokohama Yoshidabashi." As a beer that balances Yokohama's historical character with modern drinkability, it looks set to become a new standard from Yokohama Beer.
