Tokyo Hakkei to Release Omori Sanno Brewery’s Revamped CHIYO IPL
Omori Sanno Brewery’s India Pale Lager CHIYO returns to Tokyo Hakkei after about two years. The revamped beer will be released on September 30, 2026, at 7 p.m., featuring a new petal-inspired label and a more tropical flavor profile.
Tokyo Hakkei, a craft beer pub in Sanno, Ota, Tokyo, will release the revamped CHIYO, an India Pale Lager from Omori Sanno Brewery, on September 30, 2026, at 7 p.m.
CHIYO was originally released on August 8, 2021—the day of the Tokyo Olympic closing ceremony—with the message, “It’s Hi-time to say hello to the next generation.” After an absence of around two years, the beer is set to return.
The relaunch brings changes to both the label and the flavor. The new label features a petal-inspired design, while the beer has been described as evolving in a more tropical direction. Drinkers can expect the crisp, refreshing character associated with a lager alongside a more pronounced tropical fruit impression.
The beer is also connected to writer Chiyo Uno, who is introduced in the post as a model for the heroine of the NHK morning drama “Brassam.” For returning fans, the release offers a chance to revisit a familiar beer in a new form; for first-time drinkers, it provides an introduction to Omori Sanno Brewery’s approach to contemporary lager brewing.
Tokyo Hakkei is located on the third floor of Hakkeizaka Building, close to Omori Station. Beer lovers can visit the pub to compare the revamped CHIYO’s aroma, flavor, and drinkability with their memories of the original. Availability and serving details should be confirmed with the venue before visiting.
