New Saison, "Okage"

Tokyo Hakkei / Omori Sanno Brewery will release a new beer, Okage, on August 22. A tapping ceremony is scheduled for around 4 p.m. on Saturday, August 22, and the venue will also operate as usual.

The beer belongs to the My Fan series, a project made for Emma, who occasionally appears at the Tokyo Hakkei counter. The series grew out of a mind-funding effort, an in-house project meant to gather not only money but also encouragement and goodwill. For this release, Machida, who oversees production, and Omitsu, the head brewer, worked with people close to Emma to shape both the story and the recipe.

In the glass, Okage is built as a saison with bright acidity from lemon peel and saison yeast, plus floral hop aroma and a firm bitter edge. The result is a beer that changes impression depending on when you drink it, while still staying crisp and focused. Set in a beer pub near Omori Station, Tokyo Hakkei is a place where local character and craft beer naturally meet, and this release fits that setting well.
