Marumugi’s five-beer lineup for March 29

The small beer bar Jibeer Bar Marumugi in Arakicho, Tokyo, has released its beer menu for March 29. Prices are 1,200 yen + a little extra for a large pour, and 900 yen + a little extra for a small pour. In the warm spring weather, it’s a lineup that lets you compare five beers with very different personalities.

This time’s lineup is:

- Dekorian / Y.MARKET BREWING (Aichi) 7.0% +100 yen
A flavor that layers citrus over dark malt, with the shop describing it as "like an orangette."
- MUGICHA BITTER / Minoh Beer (Osaka) 4.5% +100 yen
A gentle bitter beer that leans on roasted, toasty character.
- FONIO BEER / Repubrew (Shizuoka) 5.5% +100 yen
A premium "luxury lager" brought out by an ancient grain.
- Osaru IPA / Minoh Beer (Osaka) 6.0%
A beer that shines with crispness and hops.
- Apple Hop Kogyoku Ver. / Minami Shinshu Beer (Nagano) 6.5%
A refreshing apple fruit beer with the sharp tartness of Kogyoku apples.

In the shop’s post, March 29 is described as a warm day with temperatures topping 20 degrees Celsius, and the cherry blossoms are said to be close to full bloom. Marumugi is a beer pub on the second floor of Ichibankan Building at 1 Arakicho, Shinjuku Ward, and it’s within walking distance from Yotsuya-sanchome Station. On the quiet second floor of this neighborhood spot, the appeal of the day is being able to choose according to your mood, from roasty bitters to hop-forward IPAs and fruit beers with a fruity edge.

The shop also notes that it is closed on Tuesdays and public holidays. On a day when you want what’s in your glass to shift as lightly as the spring air, this is a tap list worth checking out.
