Hansharo Beer, based in Izu no Kuni, Shizuoka, has released a limited beer called English Gold Summer. The brewery was founded in 1997 by Kuraya Narusawa and has long produced a lineup that includes core beers, semi-regular beers, and seasonal limited releases.

This new beer is an English Summer Ale built on a distinctive combination: a lively hop aroma from American hops, fermented with British yeast. The recipe uses Cara Gold malt for a lightly toasty character, First Gold hops for citrus aroma, and a generous amount of fruity American hops. The result is a beer that balances brightness with the calm, rounded drinkability associated with English-style ales.

In the glass, it shows a clear, pale yellow color. The aroma brings lemon, iyokan, and grapefruit up front, with apricot and peach emerging as it opens up. On the palate, the beer is soft and approachable, with restrained bitterness and a subtle tea-like depth in the finish. It is designed as a beer that stays refreshing in hot weather without becoming sharp or overly dry.

The beer is 5.5% ABV and 15 IBU. It is available in 330 ml bottles and keg formats of 10 L, 15 L, and 20 L. Hansharo Beer suggests pairing it with grilled summer vegetables, which should suit its gentle fruit character and clean finish.
