Deep-roast coffee joins the lineup

Craft Beer & Spice Food "Neko no Shukai-jo" in Umegaoka is now serving coffee as well. In the post, the shop says it sources deep-roast beans from Minagawa Coffee in Soshigaya-Okura and brews them with a tactile, analog approach: the water temperature is judged by feel, and the extraction volume is measured using the markings on the server. The bar describes the method as following the instruction to "listen to the beans," adjusting to the season, aroma, and condition of the coffee.

Six drafts on tap, plus cans and bottles inside the shop

The day’s tap list features six beers: "Ocean Avenue" (Session IPA) from CRAFTROCK BREWING, "Pirono Helles" (Helles) from PIRONO BEER, "Foeder Sour Vintage 2024" from AJB Co., "KASUMI" (Hazy Session IPA) from Shiga Kogen Beer, "Super Fresh" (Hazy DIPA), a collaboration between West Coast Brewing and Inkhorn Brewing, and "Moon Calendar" (West Coast IPA) from NOMCRAFT Brewing.

Draft beer is offered in three sizes and can also be taken out in cups. Cans and bottles are available for drinking in-house and for purchase, making it easy to move between IPA, lager, and sour styles depending on the mood.

A beer stop in Umegaoka

As the name suggests, the place is built around craft beer and spice food, so it works both as a beer-first stop and as a place to pair drinks with a meal. The post also notes a June-only happy hour: Monday through Friday from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., draft beer is 10% off.

It is the kind of neighborhood pub where you can pause for deep-roast coffee, then return to beer with a refreshed palate. For beer drinkers in Umegaoka, it offers an easy reason to linger.
